Panama Papers: Saraki, Tinubu secrets will be made open

Naij.com rrveals that today Monday 9, May 6pm, Nigerians can see details of how Senate president Bukola Saraki, oil magnate Wale Tinubu and other prominent citizens got themselves involved in the Panama Papers scandal that has rocked the world for weeks.


This is because the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has promised to release all the files containing details of the scandal online.

According to the ICIJ, a US-based organization, the documents will be released in a searchable database at offshoreleaks.icij.org at exactly 1800 GMT. As against Wikileaks, names and information concerning 200,000 offshore entities set up by wealthy individuals around the world and hidden in Panama, Seychelles and British Virgin Islands would be revealed. The documents from 2.6 terabytes of data given to a German newspaper, Sueddeutsche Zeitung, over a year ago by an anonymous source that prefers to be called John Doe, also indicted Saraki’s wife, Toyin, Lt. General Theophilus Danjuma, Folorunso Coker, a tourism commissioner in Lagos.
