One week after they were granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja, a cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Robert Azibola and his wife, Stella, are yet to regain their freedom from Kuje Prison, findings have shown.
Robert Azibaola and his wife, who are currently facing a seven-count criminal charge bordering on alleged $40million contract scam, have been unable to fulfill the bail conditions that were handed to them by the trial court.
Justice Nnamdi Dimgba had in a ruling on June 8 granted the defendants who are facing trial alongside their firm, Oneplus Holding Limited, bail to the tune of N1billion.
They were directed to deposit N500million each, as well as produce two sureties in the like sum.
The court argued that the sureties must be owners of landed properties in either Maitama or Asokoro Districts of Abuja and must produce evidence that they paid income tax for the past three years.
However, the duo has been unable to meet the bail condition, a development that has kept them in the prison for over a week now, Vanguard reports.
