Women Are Suing Baylor For Ignoring Sexual Assault Claims

Tags

Sex Assaults across the globe is becoming a trend to contend with, as women become more vulnerable to this act, there everyone, most especially women must stand to their feet to say NO to Sexual Assults.
Three more women filed a federal civil-rights lawsuit against Baylor University in Waco, Texas today, saying the school failed to help them after they reported being sexually assaulted, according to the Associated Press.

These three women — who all remain anonymous — join several others who previously sued Baylor for the same reason of failing to provide support, help, or properly investigate rape claims. A report released in late May found that Baylor has indeed failed to provide adequate support to sexual assault survivors on campus, and in some cases, even discouraged students from reporting their assaults to the university. The same report found "specific failings" within the football and Athletic departments, "including a failure to identify and respond to a pattern of sexual violence by a football player and to a report of dating violence."

The women who now join the others in suing Baylor for ignoring their sexual assault reports say they were attacked in campus housing in 2004, 2012, and 2014. The woman in the 2014 case also says her alleged attacker was a football player.

An investigation by ESPN earlier this year revealed a repeated tendency of Baylor, and specifically Baylor football, to ignore claims of sexual assault. The official report released in May confirmed many of those tendencies, and led to the dismissal of former football coach Art Briles, and eventual dismissal of former university president Ken Starr.

Baylor has yet to release a statement to address the new lawsuit.
