Text: Job 4:1-11

Key Verse:
"Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off? Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same" (Job 4:7, 8).

In the game of racing, spectators usually gather to cheer and jeer. It is always advisable for an athlete to always distinguish between those who cheer him from those who jeer at him. If he becomes discouraged by the deafening jeering of spectators, even when he is leading the race, he is not likely to finish strong and victorious.
Three friends of Job had visited him and had listened to his complaints that were made out of sheer pain and discomfort. Eliphaz, one of the friends, felt that Job's outburst of complaint should not go unresponded to. Although Eliphaz was correct in his observations that the wicked will always reap the wrath of God, he however, misapplied it by insinuating that Job was reaping the recompense of his evil deeds. He was short-sighted however that the afflictions of his friend was totally orchestrated by the devil and one of those "light afflictions" that the Scriptures spoke of.

How often do men misjudge us! But as believers, our concern and preoccupation must be on what God thinks about us; our standing with God and not the perception of gainsayers. The Christian journey demands daily cross-bearing. Every believer must be focused and ensure he/she is in tune with the will of God at all times.
You may suffer rejection in the midst of persecution; you must commit everything to God who judges righteously. It is a new day and a new dawn. Look up, for your victory is assured.
Thought for the day: A faith walk is a wise walk.
